CCOO DECLARES ITS STRONGEST REJECTION AGAINST THE TERRORIST BARBARISM THAT HAS STRUCK BARCELONA AND CAMBRILS, AND SHOWS ITS SUPPORT TO THE VICTIMS AND THEIR RELATIVES

A joint declaration drafted by CCOO and UGT is transcribed below.

    18/08/2017.

“CCOO and UGT condemn the brutal attack committed, yesterday,Thursday 17th August, in Barcelona and Cambrils and express their solidarity and support with the relatives and friends of the victims.

Barcelona is an open, free, and working city that throughout history has given an example of inclusion and democracy. A city in which numerous cultures coexist and in which those who visit it breathe peace and tolerance; these same principles are shared by the tourist village of Cambrils, which peaceful life has been tried to be broken. No act of hatred and violence can break the desire of all the people who live there to continue doing so in a peaceful, free, and democratic manner.

CCOO and UGT want to congratulate all the workers of the security forces, social and health services, transport, etc. which, in an exemplary way, have attended with professionalism and care the victims of the cruel attack.

UGT and CCOO call on all workers, so that today, Friday 18th of August, at 12:00 hrs, they will join at the entrance of their working centres and show with a minute of silence their solidarity with the victims and their commitment to peace, justice, tolerance, and democracy, signs of identity of the working class. CCOO and UGT call as well their affiliates and all citizens to attend and participate in the various events that are convened in different locations in Spain”.
